the pictures are much better with captions explaining them.
be careful when you hand out toys. think a minute about whether the toy could cause trouble to a younger child, like the string on that yo yo. ask their moms if the kid will be safe playing with it before you hand it out.you don't want a baby to strangle itself on big brother's new possession. I don't think the person who made the comment on "asking the childrens mother if the kid will be safe" understands what you are trying to do there. Keep up the work, I was in the 96th before, and just so the "janet in venice beach" understand, they are there to put smiles on the faces and wind the heart's of the local. ! of course i know what they're trying to do there! beleive me. I've been following chief wiggles and operation Give since the beginning. same for Spirit of America! I'm a MOM. I KNOW what babies and younger children can do when they get ahold of older children's toys. you don't want joy to turn into panic or tragedy; it would ruin the whole intent of the gifts. a baby or toddler can't hurt themselves on, say, a frisbee, a softball, a soccer ball, a foam bat, but they can choke themselves on a yoyo string, a teddy bear button eye, a doll whose small leg or head can be pulled off, etc. All I"m saying, is, 'think about it, first. look around, at the kids. see trouble before it develops. be judicious in what you hand out. once a kid makes the mistake, it's too late. you want it to be a happy memory for EVERYONE, long after you're gone!---right??? the children are priceless. the wisdom in their eyes. and the ancients, too. i keep wishing i could do something for all of them...i see they planted gardens of vegetables. might as well. that whole playing field could be farmed for the time being. does the stadium have plumbing? bathrooms, water fountains, etc? considering, that was a good choice for the displaced to take. seems like shovels and brooms would go a long way to help clean up the rubble for little feet. i heard people were being descouraged from coming, but all in all, why not just go ahead and work with it until housing and claims can be settled? use it to its best, until the next stage can happen-? get them more shade. the summer can't be kept away--right? is there any form of school set up for all the children? how hard would it be to put up big tents on the center field and hire a teacher or several to teach the kids, and give the mom's a break? everything from daycare age/headstart on up? time's a wasting. they'll never have these years again.
